Why HQ Baseline

The concussion baseline, the way it should have shipped.

Clinician-grade methodology, athlete-grade usability. No computer lab, no clipboard, no bottleneck.

How it works

One link. Fifteen minutes. Done.

  1. 1

    Share one link

Your athletic trainer sends a single baseline link to the team. No accounts to create, no passwords to reset.

  2. 2

    Athletes self-test

Each athlete completes the 7-module battery on their own phone in about 15 minutes. Voice and motion handle the scoring.

  3. 3

    Compare after injury

If a concussion happens, post-injury results are compared to that athlete's personal baseline — automatically, with subtype-aware radars.

Proof

What trainers tell us in the first week.

We baseline our entire high school in an afternoon. What used to take four evenings of paper SCAT5 now runs itself — and we finally have comparable data for return-to-play calls.
Alicia R.
Head Athletic Trainer, Midwest public school district
The motion scoring is the difference. I don't have to eyeball mBESS errors anymore. The data is objective and the parents trust it.
Marcus T.
ATC, Club soccer program
I can baseline a traveling team from a hotel lobby. That's not an exaggeration — remote baselines are the feature I didn't know I needed.

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions every athletic trainer, school administrator, and parent asks before rolling out Baselines by Headquarters.

What does it cost?
For most athletics organizations, it's $0 per year — baselines, the full platform, and telehealth included — so families and sports programs don't have to face any bill or paperwork. That's because HQ is fully covered by your organization's secondary insurance — the policy most schools and clubs carry for student athletes. Oftentimes you don't know about it, but it's already there. Book a 15-minute call and we'll confirm coverage for your situation.
How does baseline day actually work?

You have three ways to run baselines:

  • Whole team at practice: Display a QR code on a projector or big screen. Athletes spread out on the field with their phones, scan to sign up, and finish the full battery in about 15 minutes — in parallel, while you run practice or watch completion from the sideline.
  • One athlete at a time: Sit with each athlete in the training room and administer the baseline yourself — counting mBESS errors and scoring modules the way your program already does.
  • At home: Email or text a baseline link. Athletes complete all seven modules on their own phone, on their own schedule — before season, over the weekend, or between practices. You track who's done from your dashboard.
Do I still need to proctor every athlete?
Only for the one-athlete-at-a-time option. For at-home links and whole-team field baselines, every module is voice-prompted and scored automatically — athletes self-administer while you review completion and results afterward.
How is HQ different from ImPACT, Sway, or C3 Logix?
HQ Baseline covers seven subtypes (not cognitive-only), runs in any browser without an app download, supports unlimited athletes and re-tests, and lets you baseline an entire roster in parallel. Scroll up to the comparison section for a side-by-side look at each vendor.
What happens when a student gets a concussion?
Their baseline is already on file for objective comparison. HQ connects them to next-day telehealth with a concussion specialist, generates AI-driven return-to-play plans, automates daily symptom check-ins, and helps you coordinate return-to-learn and return-to-play clearance with documented plans.
What if an athlete doesn't have a smartphone?
Lend any spare phone, iPad, or the athletic training room tablet. Testing runs in the browser — no install required. A baseline link also works anywhere there is phone service, including on the road.
Can we re-baseline mid-season?
Yes — unlimited re-tests are included. Re-baseline after growth spurts, off-season, protocol changes, or before playoffs. There are no per-test fees.
Are you HIPAA, FERPA, and COPPA compliant?
Yes. HQ is built for schools and youth sports. We are independently audited for COPPA (children's privacy) and designed to meet HIPAA and FERPA requirements for health and education records.
Are the 12 CEUs really included?
Yes. BOC-approved continuing education is included when you onboard — 12 CEUs in bite-sized courses designed for athletic trainers, not generic webinars.
